Our Hand
Leverage the best of Vietnamese craftsmanship
Every Clay & Chalk piece is cut and sewn in Vietnam. This is what we ask of it.
01
Made where the skill is
Performance knits are hard to sew well. We chose to make ours where that skill already lives.
Our zips and tees are cut and sewn in Vietnam, a country with a long garment-making tradition and deep experience in technical sportswear. Much of the best work there is quiet, precise, and rarely credited. We wanted the credit to go where the skill is.
Stretch knits are the hardest fabric family to sew flat. A four-way stretch knit moves under the needle, and keeping a skin-friendly seam straight on it is not a machine setting; it is a practised hand. That is why we sew where the experience already is.
02
One detail at a time
The details that decide how a piece ages are small. So we are specific about them.
Skin-friendly seams sit smooth against the skin, so nothing rubs through a long rally. An extended underarm gusset, laser-cut with hundreds of small vents, gives room to reach and lets heat out.
The zips close with an adjustable zip and a zipped pocket: in-seam on the polo, at the chest on the quarter-zip. Raglan sleeves run from the collar to the underarm, which lets the arm move without pulling on the body of the garment.
The zip fabric is 75% nylon and 25% spandex at 250 gsm, with 4-way stretch. The tee is 82% polyester and 18% spandex at 160 gsm, with a 3D finish that dries faster. The mark is small and woven at the collar, never printed across the chest.
The detail nobody sees is still a detail. That's the whole point.
